Three individuals were recorded stealing a water turbine from a building in the city of Las Tunas in the early hours of Wednesday, according to a report made by internet user Franklich Fundora Padrón via his Facebook account.

In the video shared in the group "Revolico Buena Vista Las Tunas," the criminals can be seen committing the theft: they opened the small masonry and barred enclosure of the water pump and removed it in just a few minutes.

Fundora Padrón urged neighbors and residents in that area of eastern Cuba to contact him privately if anyone recognizes the suspects.

The internet user also took the opportunity to send a message to those engaged in theft: "You, who make a living off others' possessions, will surely see this. I'm telling you that when you least expect it, you will fall."

Cubans not only have to deal with the ongoing scarcity of basic goods, power outages, and difficulties in accessing drinking water in many cities, but also with rising insecurity.

The regime itself has acknowledged that thefts have surged on the island due to the widespread crisis; although a few weeks ago it claimed that crimes had decreased in recent weeks, the public responded on social media with "it's not noticeable."
