MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Gunfire erupted Monday night in South Memphis, killing one man and injuring two other men, police said.

Memphis Police (MPD) said officers responded just after 9 p.m. to two scenes and found three men had been shot. The men were rushed to Regional One Health, where one of the men died, police said.

MPD said the one man was suffered critical injuries, while the other man is expected to survive.

Police said the shooting victims were found at South Parkway and Florida Street and on the 1800 block of South Lauderdale. The two locations are about 1.5 miles apart.

MPD said investigators believe the men were involved in a gunfight near the first location.

No other details were released.
