Himoinsa in mission-critical power play - Mining.com.au
Yanmar Group subsidiary and power technology play Himoinsa has launched the HGY Series, a new power solution for mission-critical projects.
Developed collaboratively by Himoinsa and Yanmar Power Technology (YPT), the HGY Series combines Himoinsa’s power generation technology with advanced engine technology developed by YPT.
From mission-critical to backup and continuous power, Himoinsa provides diesel and gas power generation solutions with thousands of installations worldwide and different applications in sectors including mining, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, data centres, and independent power plants.
The HGY Series (pictured below) is configured to support the future adoption of alternative fuels such as HVO, gas, and hydrogen in what the company describes as a step towards environmental responsibility that will help support end-users in their strategy to attain net zero.
HGY generators have varying power outputs for different applications, including emergency , continuous, and data centre power, among others. The generators are equipped with exhaust after-treatment systems to meet European, German, and British regulations for mid-combustion plants operating more than 300 or 500 hours.
The new series includes an EPA tier two certified version for emergency applications in the US and complies with regulations in Singapore.
Himoinsa CEO Francisco Gracia says the new HGY ignites the start of a new chapter in the story of critical power generation.
“Design and engineering teams from both Himoinsa and Yanmar have worked closely with our dealers and customers to develop an innovative solution that addresses the clear demand for energy-efficient, low-emission, and comprehensive power solutions,” says Gracia.
The CEO emphasises the launch of the HGY series, which recently took place in Madrid, Spain where some 400 customers and partners at Metropolitano Stadium, is a significant step forward in reinforcing the company’s growth in the global market.
Founded in 1982, Himoinsa is a designer and manufacturer of power technology solutions. It supplies power generation equipment in the global market – generator sets, lighting towers, and power storage and distribution systems.
In 2015, Himoinsa became part of the Yanmar Group, which was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1912 and today is a global player in the design and manufacture of industrial and marine engines, agricultural, and construction equipment.
Yanmar is touted as the first ever to succeed in making a compact diesel engine of a practical size in 1933.
Himoinsa is a manufacturer of power technology solutions that designs and produces generator sets, battery storage systems, lighting towers, automatic transfer switches, monitoring controls and accessories, for backup and continuous power supply.
The HGY Series is powered by Yanmar engines, ranging from 1250kVA to 3500kVA (future plans up to 4000kVA). This includes the GY175L engine family, featuring multiple models with 12 and 16 cylinders and future engine developments with 20 cylinders, all of which are electronically controlled.
This new development has generated a significant increase in the industrial capacity for both companies with the launch of a new production line for the Yanmar GY engine at the Amagasaki factory in Japan and the establishment of a new Himoinsa production centre in Spain.
The new facility for Power Solutions has an area of 17,000m2 and a production capacity of 1,000 units of generators annually.
Yanmar has more than 100 years of experience in developing fuel-efficient engine technology for power generation, marine, and construction equipment industries.
Efficiency is a primary objective for Himoinsa and Yanmar, and the HGY generators have been designed to ensure optimal fuel consumption. This is achieved through a new common rail high pressure fuel injection system, advanced piston design, and high-power density.
Gracia says this focus on efficiency translates to cost savings, reduced emissions and extended autonomy, making the HGY Series one of the most efficient and competitive products on the market.
On 3 October, Mining.com.au reported Yanmar Compact Equipment (Yanmar CE) is expanding its service offering into a new Asia, Oceania, and Latin America (AOLA) region in a strategic move to capitalise on the high-growth potential of the region.
Yanmar CE has manufacturing facilities in Asia, North America, and Europe and designs, manufactures, and supports compact equipment for a range of segments, principally those requiring earthmoving such as mining.
